The diary of an incredible mum…INTRODUCTION

…sponsored by Arike Nursing Covers

As the clock ticks every day, histories are made. Every mum has a story (either as ‘fresher ’or as one who has been in the “motherhood business” for a while). Irrespective of how long or how short, the thought of that child or those children brings smiles and sometimes tears to a mother’s face.

Putting pen to paper helps me process my feelings and document memorable moments for the future. Although, sometimes I wished I had a camera to record every bit of activity that happened when I was pregnant and now that my baby is growing…making it a reality show that can be watched over and over again. Nevertheless, with my diary I can play it over all in my mind at any time and still cherish every moment.

Motherhood indeed is not a joke…I’m not trying to scare anyone here but this is just the fact. Anytime I attend wedding ceremony, the only thing I think about whenever I come in contact with the bride who is full of smiles is how she is going to look when she gets pregnant (lol!); the big nose, pimpled face, protruded tummy, covered curves, swollen…and ofcourse, how she will cope during the first three months…I hope it’s not getting more scary? Please don’t be because some people are blessed with what is called “the motherhood glow”.

During my first trimester, it was as if the world was about to end…but each time I felt my worst – days when my head stays in the toilet and when I have bad appetite, or was it when I took permission to be off workfrequent  – I only reminded myself of the miracle growing inside me, and this got me through the nausea phase.

What about the second trimester and third…the feeling of my baby’s move inside of me was one of the most amazing experiences of pregnancy to me. This I share with my husband whenever he is around. The experience for me is magical – it cannot be explained. The first kick, the first scan, the first time I shopped for my little one, my first preggy picture…hmmmmm…how can I express all these. Now that my baby is physically here, I missed them all. I will encourage you to enjoy every bit of it when pregnant!

The delivery experience was another “gagaga” experience…this is the only way I can explain it lol!. I can’t imagine how I made it through but don’t get scared, it comes naturally but not…errr….at least you know what I mean! And then, taking care of my child and everything…

To keep these memories alive, I curled up on my bed with a notepad placed on my lap, to develop my diary which I will love to share with you. Happy reading!
