Two (2) distinct miracles performed by Jesus were initiated by mothers.
1. Turning water to wine: Jesus’ mother
2. Feeding of the 5,000 men (with x number of women and children)
Although Jesus knew His time hadn’t come yet, God honoured the input of His mother for the first miracle to be performed.
The mother of the little boy didn’t have an idea of how many people the meal she prepared for her son was going to feed.
The first mother knew her Son, what God told her, His capacity…
The second mother didn’t know however she carried out her core assignment which seems like ‘normal duty’ (food preparation) diligently and blessed thousands.
So let me ask, what do you think mothers job descriptions are? I think these 5 key roles will be of great benefit and you can add to these roles in the comments section
1. You are your children’s spiritual antenna.
Long before your children start to discern, you will be in that position of making choices for them therefore you need to be spiritually alert to fulfil this role.
Even when they are old enough to make decisions themselves, you still need to fulfil the assignment of taking them to God as often as you can as a mother
2. You are your children’s teacher.
Mothers nurture, and nurturing includes fertilizing, pruning, watering, watching…and this is similar to teaching. We can’t afford to rely on their school teachers to tell them about morals or wait on their Sunday school teachers to introduce God to them.

3. You are a provider.
Yes, provider! I am sure you will think that I have mixed up the roles, and you may be thinking fathers are the head and they should provide…yes you are right. However, in my understanding, what fathers provide are “raw materials” (money or other resources). It’s is the duty of every mother to turn these raw materials to finished products that will be beneficial to the family.
To explain this further, let me give you these examples,
A. Fathers provide money, mothers turn it into food and clothing and others
B. Fathers provide shelter, we turn the apartment into a home
As mothers, we can’t underestimate our roles as providers.
4. You are an investor.
Imagine what Zoom app was few years ago and what it is now. People may not see the potential in your children and when some see it, they may not believe in it. However, as mothers, we should do all we can today to invest into our children’s future. It is in the place of investment that you prepare your children for a greater future.
The worth of your children in the next few years will be determined by how much you have invested as a mother.
5. You are to love your spouse and let your children know that you do.
Simple enough right? Not really! Nevertheless, you have to be intentional about this role because it’s all starts from here.
