My Breastfeeding Experience

After several hours of acting unscripted drama, I finally heard my baby’s first cry. The matron said ‘congratulations’, did the necessary routine and took me to the postnatal ward to rest.

I ate and chatted a bit with my husband then I laid to rest. As I was about to ‘change my gear’ my tiny baby’s voice woke me. The nurse came to my bedside and said, ‘Mrs Williams, it’s time to breastfeed your baby’.

I stood up, washed my breast and was ready to give my daughter her first meal. The nurse helped me to get her latch on however, the position wasn’t comfortable for me. My back ached and my hands became heavy as she stayed on the breast for a long time.

This continued for some time. Afterward, I realised that whenever I hear the cry of my Princess, I become a little cranky.

My husband saw my frustration and asked his sister (my sister-in-law already had 2 children) on how best we can go about exclusive breastfeeding. She recommended that I use a Nursing Pillow (I had seen it before but I thought it was one of the ‘rubbish’ pregnant women buy).

Without thinking, my husband bought it. I used it and I saw the difference. It was so comfortable that I started looking forward to breastfeeding and bonding with my little damsel.

The Nursing Pillow function doesn’t end there. It’s multifunctional and can also be used for:
– Baby’s tummy time
– Lay back time
– And also provides support for babies when learning how to sit

Have you gotten yours or gotten for a loved one?
