Be the kind of example you will love your children to manifest

Many a times, we love what we see in other people’s children. We wish our children could be that friendly,  that brilliant,  that Godly, that honest, that…and the lists go on.

Parenting isn’t wishful thinking, parenting is an act of service. If you want your children to showcase a particular attribute then start by being the actor and not just script writer 😉.

Don’t complain that your children do not pray when you don’t even whisper a word to God in a day.

Don’t complain that your children don’t read when you won’t even go near a bookshelf.

Don’t complain that your children are not friendly when you select those you interact with by default.

Don’t complain that your children are not honest, when we can’t differentiate white from black in your conversations.

Don’t complain that your children are not saving money, when you spend more than you earn without thinking twice.

Don’t complain that your children are not disciplined when you do what you feel like doing anytime, any day and anywhere.

Don’t complain that your children talk too much when you hardly keep quiet.

Don’t complain that your children are not hard working when all you show them indirectly is that life is all about pleasure .

Don’t complain that your children are careless and carefree when you are not orderly.

Don’t complain that your children do not keep to time, when ‘African Time’ is the real clock you see.

Don’t complain that your children are not respectful when you don’t treat people around you with dignity.

Don’t complain that your children are impatient when you are always on the rush.

Don’t complain that your children are selfish when you rarely give what you have to others.

Don’t complain that your children are not bold when you fret over little challenges.

Don’t complain that your children are  irresponsible when you hardly take care of what you have.

Don’t complain that your children are not obedient to the law of the land when you know how best to “sort yourself” in situations when you break the law.
Don’t have too much expectation from your children when you have lower the standard.

Be the investment.
Be the example.
Be the actor.
And you will be surprised with the kind of attributes your children will manifest.

Be intentional!
