I love reading, and one of the books I am reading at the moment is an old book that I am sure almost every had read. I remembered when the author emerged an important assignment, the book was popular and almost everyone was reading it or will I just say, forming to read it 😃
As I started reading this book authored by Barrack Obama’s titled ‘The Audacity of Hope’, I was challenged with the ‘Dedication’ and all I can think about was Timothy’s mother and grandmother in the Bible.
From Audacity of Hope:
“To the woman who raised me –
MY MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER, TUTU,
who’s been a rock of stability throughout my life,
and
MY MOTHER,
whose loving spirit sustains me still.”
From the Bible, 2nd Timothy 1:5
“I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother LOIS and in your mother EUNICE and, I am persuaded now lives in you also…”
What is it about this trend I asked myself?
Then I concluded, as parents, ‘if you aren’t gone, you are not done’.
You don’t just past the baton and look away, you have to watch, scream/motivate and be alert until the final person gets to the finish line.
And guess what? The final person isn’t your child, neither is he/she your grandchildren or great-grandchildren. It’s your entire lineage.
Be intentional!
