Gone are the days when we were trained by instruction days when we listened as children and never dared to question or judge. Back then, our greatest ambition was to grow up and “behave anyhow,” simply because what our parents mentioned to us was often different from what they modeled before us.
Dear Parents, while we once longed for freedom, today’s children are watching us closely and they won’t hesitate to reflect the same behavior we display, whether we like it or not. Therefore, we must be intentional not only about what we mention, but also about what we mentor. “Be the example you want your child to follow”
Our children learn more from what we do than from what we say. Let’s be intentional about the example we set because our actions speak louder than our instructions.
Even in the Bible, we see this truth clearly. Timothy learned genuine faith not only from the teachings of Paul, but also from the example of his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice (2 Timothy 1:5). Their consistent lives of faith mentored him long before Paul’s letters instructed him.
Always remember that our children will follow what we model. Let’s lead lives worth mirroring.
