Intentional Parenting tips for a Successful Academic Year

During the last prize-giving day, his mum/dad were angry because he was not called for any of the awards.
In fact, they believed that the teachers were partial and they had their favourites.

They are the “busy type” of parents that do not sign communication book from the school (they expects the teacher to call them on important issues)

They do not have time for homework (that is why they employed the service of a lesson teacher)

They do not attend PTA meetings and open days in school (they believe that they need to be hardworking so that they can pay school fees and other bills)

They don’t have any idea of what their child is facing academically (in short, ‘this is why he was sent to school in the first place’ is their chorus)

They want the best for their children however,  they are not committed to helping the child.

Yes, in are way they are, at least the child is sent to a good school, he has a lesson teacher, he is well catered for…however, THAT IS NOT ENOUGH!

To get the best from your child/ren this academic year,  you must:

1. Be the friend of your child: understand his/her weaknesses and strengths

2. You must limit your expectations to the capacity of the child and then grow with the child in his/her pace

3. Be friend with your child’s teacher (s)

4. Plan to attend school activities

5. Help your children to see academic challenges as part of life, encourage them to face it with boldness, be their cheerleaders, motivate them into solving it themselves.

6. Be conscious/delebrate/intentional about your involvement

7. Involve God by praying always for your child.

Thank you for reading, looking forward to more tips from you in the comment session.
