Parenting is forever. True or False?

Dear Parents,

‘Before, before’ 😃 🤣 😂 I was counting down to when my children will be old enough to be on their own so I can have a FREEEEEEEEEEEEE life.

Now I know that parenting is in stages, the journey never ends. Though the tasks may look lesser physically however it is more tasking mentally and spiritually. Trust me.

Recently, I had a conversation with a big sister, I  shared my plans on how I intend to move up my career ladder when the children are at a particular age. She nodded her head in affirmation and I thought my plans were 101% right. By the time she was done with me (please note that her children are young adults and a teenager), I realised that the journey I have signed up with God to do is farther than my thoughts 😉 😜

I am not talking about cooking their foods, grooming, or doing school runs…and so on. All these may seem hard now but there are other harder tasks ahead 😱. Though I am not yet there nevertheless, I am trusting God for grace to walk the paths successfully.

My tribe (Yoruba people) will say, “omo o ki dagba lodo obi e” meaning children don’t outgrow their parents. Therefore, if this is really so, then our calling (not physical task now) as parents never ends.

Mummies and daddies, calm down and enjoy the ride because the journey never ends 😃…

…and the secret to enjoying this ride even when we fall into pot holes, or when we experience traffic congestion or when the vehicle is ‘doing’ overheating/displaying mechanical problem…is to be friendly with the Driver (God, Almighty, The Creator of all) so that we can finish strong as parents.

“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go.” Proverbs 3:5-6 TPT

I would like to read your comments on your thoughts regarding this article.
