I often hear parents lament, “We are raising Gen Z,” or sigh as they say, “Children of nowadays…” But dear Kingdom Parent, pause for a moment, “Who exactly are you nurturing?” If I were to ask you to define your children, would you simply tag them Gen Z or Gen Alpha according to the world’s categories?
As Kingdom Parents, our vision must go deeper than worldly labels. We are not just raising a generation defined by trends, gadgets, or cultural shifts—we are raising a generation preserved for Jesus.
The true measure of parenting is not in the names society gives to our children, but in the eternal identity we cultivate in them. For every Kingdom Parent, the ultimate goal should be clear and unwavering: to raise a Generation for Jesus (GenJ). Every generation is defined by three things—their outfit, their culture, and their language.
For the Preserved Generation, the ones we are raising for Jesus, these three things take on a Kingdom identity:
1. Their outfit is not a fashion trend but the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:11)—their daily protection and strength. “When we dress our children in the Armor of God, no fashion of the world can strip them of their identity in Christ” Oluwaseyi Fadairo.
2. Their culture is not dictated by the world but marked by the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23)—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. “The true culture of a Preserved Generation is not trending hashtags, but the daily exhibition of the Fruit of the Spirit” Oluwaseyi Fadairo
3. Their language is not slang or empty chatter but the Word of God on their lips, spiced with the heavenly language of tongues (1 Corinthians 14:2). “Language shapes destiny—raise children whose words are rooted in Scripture and seasoned with the Spirit” Oluwaseyi Fadairo.
This is what makes a Generation for Jesus—outfitted, cultured, and voiced for Kingdom living. The responsibility to raise a Preserved Generation begins at home. Be intentional about what your children wear spiritually, the culture they embrace, and the language they speak. Pray over them daily, model godly living before their eyes, and guide them to love the Word and walk in the Spirit. Remember: your consistency today is the seed of their faith tomorrow.
