Do I correct in love or for selfish reasons?

I often scream at my children for my own selfish reason?
In my mind, when I happen to spank my son, I say to my self ‘God forbid people see my own child behaving in this manner’
Not that he has done something worthy of a jail term (lol), however, reasoning through my parenting perspective, a well trained child is (or should be) perfect, blameless and easygoing. I easily forget the fact that I need to relate with my children as children and not matured or young adults.

As parents, we need God’s wisdom to nurture these great little ones in the right way.

If a farmer poured water on plants according to his eagerness to see it grow, or applied fertilisers just for bumper harvest or focuses the sun on the plant 24/7 just because he wants a “unique harvest” at all costs, the plants may die.

Therefore, we need to see through these children’s eyes and sometimes, we need to reason like they reason and the only way to be EMPATHETIC in our parenting journey is to pray to God for wisdom DAILY.

Today’s Prayer
Give me a heart that cares deeply about my children’s concerns.

“The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere” (James 3:17).
