Yorùbá Proverb VS Intentional Parenting

Yorùbá Proverb VS Intentional Parenting

“T’ídì bá bàjẹ́, t’ó ní dì ni yóò dà á.”
(If the wrapper gets torn, the one wearing it is the one who mends it.)

“Don’t delegate your parenting role” is not a beautiful phrase to threaten parents. It is a reality.

Support systems are important. Teachers, caregivers, relatives, mentors, and the community all have a role to play. However, when all is said and done, they don’t bear the ultimate responsibility for the outcome of your children—you do.

The support systems don’t face the consequences, parents do.

This is why intentional parenting cannot be outsourced. Receive help, but stay involved. Accept support, but don’t surrender your role.

May God give us the wisdom, grace, and strength to parent intentionally and finish strong.
