Many parents desire the best for their children, yet not all parents are intentional about helping their children discover and use what God has placed inside them. One of the greatest responsibilities of parenting is not just provision, but activation, that is, helping a child recognize, develop, and multiply their God-given gifts.
Your child came into this world with divine deposits. The question is: are you helping them discover and use it, or are you allowing it to lie dormant?
Here are three truths you must understand and intentionally build into your parenting:
1. Your Child Carries God’s DNA (Creativity Must Be Cultivated)
Your child is created in the image of God (Genesis 1). This means they carry His creative ability. But creativity does not develop automatically—it must be nurtured.
As a parent, you must create an environment where thinking is encouraged. Too much distraction—screens, noise, and constant entertainment—can bury creativity.
Teach your child to think. Give them space to imagine, to ask questions, to try things, and even to fail. When a child learns to think, they begin to create. When they create, they begin to discover themselves.

Do not answer every question—sometimes guide them to think through it.
2. Your Child Carries God’s Breath (Excellence Must Be Modeled and Expected)
The breath of God represents life and excellence. Everything God created, He called good. That means your child is designed for excellence—but excellence must be taught.
Many children settle for “just enough” because it is tolerated. As a parent, what you accept becomes their standard.
Teach them to finish well, to put effort into what they do, and to improve continually. When they attempt something, do not just praise the result, guide the process.
Even Gideon felt inadequate, yet with God’s presence, he achieved victory. Your child may not feel confident, but with the right guidance, they can grow into strength.

Celebrate effort, but also guide improvement.
3. Your Child Is Not Alone, (Courage Must Be Built Intentionally)
God has given your child His presence, but courage is something that must be developed. Many children shrink back and this is not because they lack ability, but because they fear failure or rejection.
As a parent, you must build courage in your child. Encourage them to try, to step out, and to face challenges. Do not overprotect them to the point where they avoid growth.
Teach them to seek God’s approval above people’s opinions. Help them ask, “Will God be proud of me?” instead of “What will people say?”
Parenting Insight:
Do not remove every challenge—some challenges are necessary for growth.
Practical Questions for Parents
Will God be proud of how your child is using:The time they are given daily?The opportunities around them?The education you are providing?The gifts already visible in them?The environment and relationships around them?More importantly:
Are you guiding them to use these things intentionally?
Never forget: your child did not come into this world empty.
They came with potential, with gifts, with capacity but it is your responsibility to fan the flame.
Do not raise children who return empty not because they lacked, but because they were never guided to use what they had.
Be intentional. Be observant. Be involved.
