2020/2021 session is over. Different awards here and there. From best student in individual subject to overall best student. Parents are wishing their children were called, students were wishing their names were mentioned on the microphone.
I was privileged to be invited to the Award Day Ceremony of a school @greatdestinationschool…and Uncle Gbadero shared some deep insights about our roles as parents. A new dimension to me entirely! This gave me deep thought of which I couldn’t afford to share the summary in my own words.
Don’t let the present success of your children to distract you from the actual purpose of their birth.
Samson showed great strength and his parents left him. He made some decisions that weren’t guided, his choices were not monitored and gradually his later end deteriorated.
Jesus also showed great strength at age 12. He was in the temple talking with great teachers. His parent found Him and took Him back home to ‘mentor’ him the more. He was guided and well nurtured then nothing about Him was mentioned until He was age 30.
Don’t just focus on the children’s potential(what they can do now) instead focus on their purpose (God created them for His own)
If Samson was intentionally guided, the story would have been different, and if Jesus was left alone by His parents at age 12, Salvation would have had plan B.
Don’t be distracted, watch and pray! God help us in Jesus Name!
I agree with this. We all are on a journey of purpose and our children are not left out. While receiving awards is a good thing, not receiving any does not prove much. Our goal as parents is to raise stable children who are ready to take on their God given assignments. I pray that we will succeed in Jesus name.
