Your now as parents determines your children’s then and after.

As I attended one of my Aunties funeral over the weekend, I was reminded that I have royalty in my lineage.  Yes, you may wonder how I forgot, in fact, I don’t think I have any name with “Ade” 😃 nevertheless because my paternal grandmother was a princess (one of the four Ruling Houses in Ile-Ife, Osun-State) then somehow, I have “it” in me

Seeing two (2) “Opa Ase” placed beside my Aunty Adenike’s coffin – one from Ooni himself and the other from our family compound I understand somethings more about lineage, royalty and parenting. Mind you, irrespective that my Aunty was married to a south-south spouse, her root wasn’t forgotten.

Permit me to share some of the others lessons I learnt during this ceremony.

Dear Parents,

1. You have a lot to pass on to your children and generations at large. In fact, who you are today will determine how your children, grandchildren and generations will be addressed. Be intentional about being the kind of person your lineage would be proud of in the future.

You cannot give what you don’t have (tangible and intangible). Therefore, be intentional about having all that God has promised you in the Word.  Search for it, pray for it and be a reality of it because someday, somehow, it will be beneficial to your lineage.

3. You are God’s Princes/Princesses therefore you have to showcase God in all you do. And as you are showcasing Him, it must reflect and be seen in the lives of your children and generation. Let your light so shine!!!

4. To keep your royalty relevant, you have to be part of the family and also appreciate the culture.
Can your children differentiate your behaviour from the culture of this world? Do you love God but do not like the doctrines of Christianity? Are you passing down the wrong perception to your children? There are some rules to be obeyed as  Kingdom parents, stop gallivanting, obey God’s principles to its last letter.

5. God’s kingship must not end with you! If you haven’t won any soul for the Lord, make sure you capture that of your children and let them know the importance of them leading their family members also to God.

Remember, Proverbs 13:22a NKJV: “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.”

You now have a lot to pass on to your generation, be intentional!
