The goal is intentional parenting—parenting that reflects the heart of the Father. Some things must be embraced, but just as importantly, some things must be avoided if we will not frustrate the grace of God upon our children’s lives.
Here are six things every Kingdom parent must consciously avoid as we raise arrows for God’s quiver.
1. Don’t fan the flame of your children’s lives on the altar of prayer, and then blow out their light with your mouth.
You cannot pray destiny into a child and speak fear, labels, or negativity over them daily. Your words either water what God is growing or quench it.

2. Don’t make promises with smiles and cuddles, then break them with screaming and shouting.
Unfulfilled promises don’t just hurt feelings, they damage trust. Children learn God’s faithfulness first through us.

3. Don’t wish your children will do great things, and then discourage their tiny little attempts.
Every giant destiny begins with small steps. Celebrate effort, not just outcomes. Don’t despise their beginnings.
Zechariah 4:10 — Do not despise the day of small beginnings.
4. Don’t be the parent who gives presents generously but offers presence sparingly.
Children may enjoy your gifts, but they grow secure in your presence. Time is love in its loudest form.
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 — Talk of them when you sit… walk… lie down… rise up.
5. Don’t only instruct your children, lead them.
Children don’t just listen to what we say; they study how we live. The strongest lessons are caught, not taught.
1 Corinthians 11:1 — Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
6. Don’t just take your children to church—take them to Jesus.
If they only know church, they may grow tired of rules and routines. But when they know Jesus, love will keep them anchored for life.

Our children are watching us. They are watching how we pray, how we speak, how we apologize, how we love, and how we follow Christ
The seeds we sow daily through our words, actions, and presence will become the harvest they reap tomorrow. Let us parent with eternity in view, grace in our hearts, and Jesus as our model.
